Welcome to Our Sanctuary
Where Wild Bees Find Home
Nestled in Thailand's lush countryside, our farm provides safe havens for wild bee colonies among mango trees, longan orchards, and native jungle plants.
Our Jungle Bee Sanctuary
Located in rural Thailand, our farm spans approximately 0.8 hectares of diverse landscape - a mix of fruit orchards, natural jungle, and open meadows. This varied terrain provides ideal conditions for Thailand's native wild bees.
Unlike commercial beekeeping operations, we focus on providing homes for wild bee colonies to move into naturally. Our traditional cement cylinder bee houses are placed throughout the property, offering shelter from predators and the elements.
The bees that choose to inhabit our houses are free to come and go as they please. We practice minimal intervention, allowing them to live as naturally as possible while providing the safe spaces they need to thrive.
Traditional Bee Houses
Our bee houses follow traditional Thai design - simple cement cylinders that provide excellent insulation and protection for wild bee colonies.
Why This Design?
The cylindrical cement houses have been used by Thai beekeepers for generations. The thick cement walls provide natural temperature regulation - keeping colonies cool during hot days and warm during cool nights. The enclosed design protects against predators and heavy monsoon rains, while the small entrance allows bees to easily defend their home.
Life on the Farm
From installation to harvest, every aspect of our work centers on respect for the bees and the local community.
Installation
Each bee house is carefully positioned in a shaded area, often under fruit trees. The orientation and placement are chosen based on traditional knowledge and bee behavior patterns.
Wild Colonization
We don't capture or relocate bees. Instead, we wait for wild swarms to discover and move into our houses naturally. When they do, it's a celebration!
Gentle Monitoring
We observe our colonies from a respectful distance, only opening houses occasionally to check on their health and wellbeing.
The Sweet Reward
When colonies are strong and honey stores are abundant, we carefully harvest a portion - always leaving plenty for the bees to thrive.
The People Behind the Project
Our work is only possible because of dedicated individuals who share a love for bees and their community.
Nate - Founder & Beekeeper
Born and raised in rural Thailand, Nate grew up surrounded by nature on her family's farm. Her deep connection to the land and its creatures inspired this project.
What started as placing a few bee houses has grown into a mission to protect wild bees while creating opportunities for her community. Nate personally crafts each pipe cleaner bee and oversees all farm operations.
"Every bee house we install is a small act of hope. Every wild colony that moves in is a victory. And every person who learns about our work becomes part of this journey."
Local Community
Our vision extends beyond just saving bees. We aim to create meaningful employment for local families - people who will install new bee houses, monitor colonies, and help maintain the farm.
Rural Thailand faces challenges as young people move to cities for work. By creating sustainable opportunities connected to the land, we hope to help families stay together and communities thrive.
As our project grows with your support, so too will the opportunities for local employment. Each new bee house represents not just a home for bees, but potential work for a community member.
Growing the Sanctuary
With your support, we dream of expanding our bee conservation efforts across more land, installing more homes, and supporting more families.
More Bee Houses
Every 10 handcrafted bees sold funds one new bee house. Our goal is to continuously grow the number of safe homes available for wild colonies.
Expanded Area
We hope to gradually extend our bee sanctuary, creating more habitat and foraging areas for Thailand's precious wild bees.
Local Employment
As the project grows, we aim to employ local family members to help with installation, maintenance, and care of the bee houses.
